Rosie

Rosie was saved from slaughter here in Florida. Had we not taken her in, she would have been killed and sold for someone to consume her body. We were more than happy to spare her of that horrible fate and bring her to live at Little Bear Sanctuary.

Rosie was friendly and loving from the day she arrived. She gave birth to 10 of the cutest piglets you’ve ever seen. Pigs are one of the most intelligent animals on the planet.

Rosie sang to her babies while they were nursing, always made sure they were safe and was, and is, an all-around incredible mom. It was an amazing experience for everyone at the sanctuary.

She and her babies will live their lives together here at the sanctuary.

Check out the video of her singing to her babies while nursing, below.

Jackie

Jackie and her baby Rose were rescued from a severe abuse case in North Carolina. Animal control found the bodies of hundreds of goats and some pigs starved to death by the owner who was arrested and brought up on cruelty charges. This was his third time being arrested for similar events in different counties. Unfortunately, farm animals do not have the same strict abuse laws of that of dogs and cats. Had we not stepped up and taken them, who knows what their fate would have been.

She is one of our friendliest goats and a great mom who will always be with her daughter. Jackie loves to climb anything and everyone! She demands attention and will rub her head on your leg until you pet her. After all, goats are just dogs with horns!

Check out their arrival video below.

Sparkles

Sparkles was part of the Florida FFA program here in town. The family’s youngest daughter did not want Sparkles to go to slaughter. When they reached out to us, we were happy to take her along with her stall mate Black Beauty.

Before her arrival Sparkles gave birth to a beautiful boy named Smoke who eventually went to another farm. About a year after we rescued Sparkles, we were able to reunite her with her baby Smoke!

Cows are extremely intelligent, have best friends, and an amazing memory. Sparkles and Smoke immediately recognized each other.

Had we not taken Sparkles & Black Beauty, they would have been slaughtered, and we would have never been able to reunite Sparkles with her son Smokes. Now all three will live their entire lives together at the sanctuary. We’re so grateful we were given the opportunity to save them.
